Leo is 5 1/2!! Woot woot!

I am late posting, but I still wanted to document that for Leo, 5 1/2 looks different than 5! Here's what Leo is up to lately:

  • He is doing awesome in Kindergarten! And by that I mean he is following the rules, being a good friend, meeting or exceeding the benchmarks he is expected to, making new friends, and going with the flow when schedules/rules/friends change. These are pictures tweeted by Leo's teacher. (1) flexible seating during "word work," (2) Leo is in Batman pajamas using technology as a reward the class earned, and (3) Leo is talking about shells from our last beach trip for show and tell.

  • Leo got his training wheels off his bike recently and rode without them well that day! Now he is more excited to ride bicycle!

  • Leo is continuing to do great work with piano. His teacher is always pleased with his progress and he cracks me up how he makes up his own songs. His teacher helped him write out one he continued to play for her week after week to check each time if he was changing it. He wasn't!

  • Leo is writing a bit, and happy to do so!

  • Leo is finally starting to night potty train. The pediatrician said don't push him since kids let you know when they are ready--and that was our experience with Olivia and Jason--but a while ago Leo didn't use the bathroom the whole day at school--7.5 hours!! So, I said to him, if you can hold it that long, I think you could try holding it at night. He said he didn't want to since the hall is scary without a light and he doesn't want to leave his bed. We added a nightlight to the hall and gave him a goal of seven to ten nights dry to get the thing he really wants--Clay's Falcon Fighter Blaster Lego set--and he has been dry ever since! I guess we should have tried sooner!

  1. Yay Leo! He's growing up! I love that he made up a song on the piano. That's awesome. He's your little composer. :-)

  2. Love that things are going so well for him at school! It was so sweet getting his (and Olivia's) hand written card. And yay for being night time potty trained! :)
