On Tuesday, I left Olivia for an hour! It was definitely harder on me than on her. Although, she will have to get used to the noise from the other kids. The teacher said Olivia was a little startled by their noises, so Sara (the lead teacher) picked Olivia up and rocked her. I'm glad that there are enough teachers (three for six children, plus more when students are observing) to be able to hold Olivia when she needs it.
On Wednesday, Grandma went with us to drop off Olivia's stuff (diapers, changes of clothes, pacifiers, etc.), to see the daycare, and to take pictures. Two are below; the first is of part of Olivia's classroom and the second is in front of the reception desk (it is a BIG place for only having 120 kids ages 8 weeks to 5 years--there is a big indoor play room, each classroom has an outdoor area for play including swimming in warm months, observation rooms attached to each classroom, etc.). I look happy because there were kids "graduating" (at five years old) there with their parents, taking pictures and reminiscing and looking at Olivia fondly saying that it seemed like only yesterday that their little ones were beginning. Everyone seemed thrilled with the program and hesitant to leave. That's a good sign, I think. Oh, and Olivia will be the youngest in her class (and thus for the whole school!), so that makes her even more special in the classroom. And, the teachers were impressed with her head control, so I beamed. (Like it really has anything to do with me...except that we do our tummy time religiously!)
Pictures of the time Grandma was here (pictures of her to come; Nicholas had the camera, so Mom has to send them to me).
A preview of the bow Olivia will be sporting in the next set of professional photos. I found it on etsy.com:
Olivia looking mad about having to eat that nasty Nutramigin:
Olivia looking inquisitive doing pseudo-tummy time. Look at that head control!
A bath while I was home so that Grandma didn't have to give her one while Nicholas went on our first date since Olivia was born!
More play time!
We love play time!
It was WONDERFUL to go out on a date with Nicholas, and I didn't feel nervous leaving Olivia with Mom. Thanks, Mom!
What a sweet little thing! I can't wait to meet her!
ReplyDeleteHooray! I'm so glad you got to go on a date! Grandma dates are the best, because then you don't have to worry about a thing!
ReplyDeleteI love the new play school, it looks wonderful. I'm glad you are feeling better (even if only temporarily) about the transition! Once again, you guys are making it through a hard thing with smiles. Great work! Remember every success to help you get through future challenges. Yay!
