More Olivia

I took Olivia to the doctor again today. This time for her cold that she has been nursing for a couple of weeks. It's not terrible--no fever and she is still eating okay, but her nose is running non-stop and this morning the snot was distinctly green. Not only that, but she hasn't slept through the night since last Tuesday...we are up every three hours again. Last night I totally gave up on the Ferberization and just comforted her whenever she woke because I knew she wasn't feeling well. I've got a script for antibiotics to fill on Friday if it hasn't cleared since "the literature" says a runny nose for three weeks in an infant is a sinus infection. But, Olivia's ears were clear and she doesn't have coughing, so we are hoping it is just a virus and goes away on its own. Dr. Roberts said I did the right thing with the night-time wakings. Push water and give ibuprofen for relief. As soon as she feels better, though, it is back to Ferber.

Olivia is on the go all the time now. She hardly sits still long enough for me to get her picture because now she just crawls right over and wants to put the camera in her mouth.

She's not loving the jumper or the walker too much, either, since they contain her. She can stand a few minutes of the walker because she can get to the telephone cord and the plastic bag drawer. Doesn't she look mischievous?

This weekend Stacey came in from Minneapolis to hang out with us. We had such a great time. The low point of the weekend was the trip home from the airport when we picked Stacey up. Never has Olivia been such a bad traveler. That 75 minute ride took two hours because we had to stop and sooth Olivia repeatedly. I know she didn't feel well, and she didn't want to be in the car seat. The rest of the weekend was more fun--lots of play time, beautiful weather (70 degrees on Saturday for our walk to the playground), a trip to Target (for some super cute clothes that Stacey insisted on buying Olivia...just wait until you all see the surf shirt and shorts for the beach!), and lots of girl time (I haven't had so much wine probably in my entire life--Stacey and I polished off a bottle each night!). So fun! Stacey, I wished we lived closer!

  1. That second photo of Olivia makes me laugh out loud! I hope she gets to feeling better! I sure wish "the literature" said that runny nose in adults for more than three weeks is a sinus infection :-P

I loved visiting with you guys ... I wish we could do it more often. Jay, where's that wormhole you promised?!?!
