Ferberization: Night 3 and Day 3

SHE. SLEPT. THROUGH. THE. NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From 6 PM to 5 AM, Olivia slept without any comforting from us! Nicholas said she stirred a couple of times, but never cried. I went to sleep at 10 PM with ear plugs, and I woke up a couple of times thinking I heard Olivia. I didn't. Then at 5 AM, I heard Olivia crying (earplugs can't stop moms from hearing their babies). Nicholas was in there shaking a bottle saying, "It's leaking like crazy!!" He had stayed up all night working, waiting for Olivia to wake up. She didn't. I made 6-oz bottle and went in. The bottle Nicholas had was leaking because I had taken the nipple out of it to sterilize it before putting it away (we are switching to only 9-oz bottles and size 3 or 4 nipples since Olivia is drinking more at a time; Nicholas had a 4-oz bottle.) After that commotion, Olivia took 6 ounces, but wouldn't go back to sleep. I think she would have otherwise, but I didn't push it since sleeping 11 hours is SO MOMENTOUS! But, 45 minutes later she was rubbing her eyes. She wouldn't go down for a nap at 6:30 AM when I tried. She went to MMO and slept from 8:15 - 9:05. She was happy and hungry when I picked her up and took another 45 minute nap this afternoon. I put her down at 6 PM with 2 minutes of protest and then nothing but sweet sleep. I am celebrating this event!!!

But, I am going to push for longer sleep at night or longer naps during the day because I still feel like Olivia is not getting enough sleep. Dr. Petit said she needs between 13 and 15 hours per day. From yesterday morning to this morning, she only got 12. Close!

I know it may not repeat itself tonight, but I am rested and I can handle it. And, now I know that this does work!! Yay!!
