22 weeks and counting...

Well, I'm feeling pretty good! The baby has apparently learned to jump in-utero because I can now see the movement as well as feel it inside and out. When I take a bath and lay back, the baby's kicks make ripples on the water's surface. Pretty amazing! She is moving a lot now. I feel her at various times throughout the day. This is a picture of me with Ringo and Puck on the couch watching the Orange Bowl. I was taking a break from ironing.

Ringo has about five more weeks to go according to our regular vet. We had his splint re-set yesterday, and he seems to feel pretty well. Not walking him is really hard on him and on me. He cries and I cry, but we are making it. He soon forgets that I was gone once I return.

Below are a sequence of belly photos. Nicholas and I dropped off a bit on regularity, and perhaps because of that, our distance is also off. But you get the picture...I am getting huge!!

The crib we ordered came today! We are waiting to put it together until we get my desk and shelves out of the baby room, though. We also ordered the bedding (via eBay!). We are going with the "Sweet Lambie" nursery from Pottery Barn. We thought we could do browns and creams and pink accents. Then we can swap out for blue accents if we have a boy later. So exciting!!!

  1. All of a sudden, you are more than halfway there!!! Your smile is radiant!
And your belly looks so little in the side shot!

I liked putting a clipboard on my belly and watching it wobble when Twohy kicked. Do you have an in-utero name yet? Or do you just call her "the baby?"

  2. The clipboard idea sounds fun! I will have to try that!

We just say "baby" like that is her name. "When baby comes...," "Baby is kicking now," or "Baby says it's time to go to bed."

As for real names, I've decided that is REALLY hard to give someone their name for the rest of their life. We had been thinking Elizabeth Ann or Alexandra Renae, but those have both been vetoed now... We'll see what happens!

  3. "Nobody puts Baby in a corner."

That is all I could think of when you mentioned you just say "baby." Anyway....the names have been vetoed? Bum!!! By who? Did Ringo not approve? Well, I can't wait to find out her name. I love girl names! I have a long list...but between you and me, I think I am destined to be a boy's mom for life.

    Miss you.

    Cheers~

  4. You may want to be secretive about names until you actually seal the deal. Like Tony said, people will bad mouth names while they are being bandied about, but no one is going to say "That's a silly name" while they are looking at the new baby.
We got burned the first time around, so we were a lot more closed-mouthed with Christopher...
I liked both the names you picked anyway! :)

Also, look at the difference between the arch in your back between the two most recent belly shots. How is your back holding up? Do you have a pregnancy pillow yet? It will make a huge difference in your sleep!

  5. J - I need to get a pregnancy pillow because my back is already hurting. Looks like I need to stand up straighter! I have resolved to do better with my yoga again. December was rough for that with all the traveling. Hopefully getting back to it will help.

As for names, I think tight-lipped may be the way to go. We've got a short list of about five names with middle names for three and none for the other two. I want to go into the delivery room with a short list and not a definite name, as I am afraid we will meet her and not think one of the names is right.

E - Me, too! I almost made the "Dirty Dancing" reference, but I thought it sounded a little too "Dirty Dancing!"
